ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Monday the team is fortunate quarterback Trevor Siemians shoulder injury wasnt worse, and the plan is for Siemian to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons if he progresses as expected this week.Siemian left Denvers 27-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?on Sunday just before halftime with an injury to his left (nonthrowing) shoulder. Rookie Paxton Lynch came on in relief and finished 14-of-24 for 170 yards plus his first career touchdown pass.Siemian was evaluated by the Broncos medical staff Monday. Kubiak said he is day-to-day, but the expectation is that Siemian will practice at least some this week and will play against the Falcons. We feel fortunate with Trevor, and hopefully day-to-day and get him here to [Sunday], Kubiak said. He has a sprained shoulder. ... Obviously, its his nonthrowing shoulder, so its about getting him where he can go through the motion and stuff.Siemian was injured when he was sacked by Buccaneers defensive tackle Clinton McDonald just before halftime. To make the tackle, McDonald swung Siemian around and tossed him down directly on his left shoulder.Siemian was 5-of-7 passing for 68 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked three times; regarding a couple of them, Kubiak said Siemian had to get rid of the ball more quickly. And while the Broncos decision-makers, including Kubiak, were happy with Lynchs first regular-season work, Kubiak said multiple times, Trevors our starter. The Broncos players have a scheduled off day Tuesday and return to practice Wednesday. Siemian is expected to get treatment Tuesday and the rest of the week.Kubiak said that if Siemian progresses as expected physically, he has enough of a handle on the offense to play against the Falcons on Sunday, even if he is limited in practice this week. For his part, Siemian said he plans to still be ready to go against the Falcons. The Broncos play Sunday, and after that comes a Thursday night game in San Diego. Were going to get our best players on the field, Kubiak said. Trevors our starter, so were going to give him every opportunity to get there on Sunday. I was asked [Monday] could he play without a lot of practice, and that would never be a problem with him, because hes very bright with what were doing. Well push to get there and be as good as we can be against Atlanta. The Broncos have won all four of Siemians starts this season; he has 824 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.Hes just really, really sore, just going through that motion, going through that throwing motion, Kubiak said. Obviously, throwing the ball is not going to be a problem. Its how does it feel when he moves his trunk and those type of things. Andre Reed Jersey .
